Enjoy a cocktail in the chic lounge or a meet up with some friends in the sleek tavern. Hungry? For a laid back feel, dine in the tavern or head to the dining room for a more formal setting. No matter why you’re drinking and/or dining at Double Cut, Wisconsin Dells’ newest restaurant, you will enjoy all the finesse of a big city steakhouse as you sip a one-of-a-kind cocktail and order off the well-rounded and unbelievably tasty menu.
“We wanted to provide a signature experience that could be tailored for a variety of experiences. Double Cut functions as a casual restaurant during early dining hours and transitions into a high-energy bar and lounge environment as the evening progresses.” – said Don Pleau, Food and Beverage Director.
As you walk through the door, the first things to catch your eye are the thin, long fire pits bordered by black stones, which catch and reflect the romantic firelight. Next, your head is likely to turn towards the multitude of televisions surrounding the tavern, playing the latest in sports, entertainment and news. Those with an eye for interior design won’t know where to start. Perhaps the intriguing mix of grey and yellow furniture, oddly complimented by the orange-red covers hovering over the fire pits. This color seamlessly carries your eye over to the red upholstered seating of the tavern, which pops against the greys and blacks of the counter and tabletops. The blue-glow of the televisions actually adds to the ambience. Past the enchanting fire pits is the dining room where elegantly, African-printed light covers help to tie in the Kalahari theme. Here, the red-covered seats take on more of a deep wine color in the soft candlelight. The white, textured walls add a funky, brightness to the room without ruining the formal dining setting. Overall the interior combines modern and laid-back with chic and classic for a setting everyone will be impressed with.
Pleau describes the interior as “a contemporary steak house restaurant with a living room-type lounge and energetic tavern.”
We haven’t even discussed the drinks or food yet! If you can somehow imagine the ultimate dudes hangout combined with “the place” for all young adults to spend time after work, or on the weekends, combined with a casual yet sophisticated spot for mom and dad to get away for a bit, then you can picture the tavern at Double Cut. The cocktail menu is organized by spirit and then sub-organized by straight up or on the rocks. Flavorful, refreshing and unique, you can’t go wrong with this drink menu. Beer is also available on tap and by the bottle and includes: lager, ales, wheat and darks. Wine lovers can order red, white or sparkling wines by the glass or bottle off Double Cut’s extensive list.
“The wine list features over 150 options from half bottles to a 9 liter Pinot Noir from Oregon. The list focuses on new world wines with an emphasis on California’s finest varieties. Wines specifically selected to satisfy every taste profile and price point for all wine enthusiast pallets from novice to seasoned. Two wine experts are on staff who will guide our guest through the wine selection process ensuring a perfect fit for guests’ preference and food matches,” comments Pleau.
Begin your phenomenal dining experience with an appetizer, or a few, to share (although you may not want to). The starter list is a can’t miss, dive into the seafood right away with the premium shellfish bar or if you’re looking for something lighter, begin your dinner with a refreshing salad or savory soup. We recommend the beef short rib tacos! Tangy, melt-in-your mouth beef wrapped in mini-crispy tortillas, topped with cheddar cheese and jalapeno and fried onion garnishes. You will brag about this to all of your friends.
Seven signature cut steaks, double cut prime rib and three petite steak options make this menu a meat lovers dream! The incredible flavor easily stands alone but the sauces and enhancements are so mouth-watering they’re hard to turn down. The filet melted in your mouth and was cooked to perfection; add the almost sweet flavor of the hollandaise sauce and we could have licked the plate. Seafood, chops and chicken are delicious entrée options as well for those who prefer white meat. The roasted amish chicken was crispy on the outside, tender on the inside and perfectly flavored with spices.
“At the center of the dining experience is Double Cut’s charcoal grill. It’s the perfect vehicle for both meats and fish and brings a unique flavor to our signature dishes. Simply put, it’s the best way to do justice to the quality of our steaks, chops and seafood,” said Pleau.
The sides were made for sharing and they aren’t kidding! Even if they’re so good you’d like to eat them all yourself. The mound of hashbrowns, heap of mashed potatoes and plate full of brussel sprouts were more than plenty for two. Well-balanced with blue cheese and bacon, even non-veggie fans will enjoy the brussel sprouts, crispy golden on the outside, buttery perfection on the inside, the hash browns are an absolute must order, and the mashed potatoes were fluffy clouds of amazement. Double Cut has nine other delicious side options and you’ll be tempted to try them all!
The dessert…well New York style cheesecake with a giant bowl of freshly cut strawberries, need we say more? Several other options are available as well and will satisfy every sweet tooth from chocolate lovers to ice cream fanatics.
